Viper Volleyball is part of the Alamo Sports Foundation, a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to building character through sports for those 18 and under.
Started in 2003, Viper Vollyeball continues to grow while maintaining its focus on developing players for a lifetime of volleyball and teaching skills necessary to succeed in life.
Our structure reflects our believe that teaching the game properly will result in increased enjoyment in playing volleyball and that once the players have the skills and have developed into a team, winning will take care of itself. We believe that you can teach volleyball without demeaning the players, belittling their efforts, and screaming in their faces. We believe that the players do not make mistakes on purpose; but rather loose focus, forget the techniques, or are not properly positioned. Therefore, the players require engaged coaching attuned to each players ability, desire, and present skill set.
In our try-outs, we assess the players current ability to play volleyball, his or her attitude concerning coaching, feedback, and correction, and his or her apptitude (what potential do we see). Based upon our assessment, we offer the player an appropriate position in our club.
We encourage our parents to continually demonstarte the benefits of positive sportsmanship and positive reinforcement. We ask those parents who join our club to remember that you ask us to coach your child so that is our job; the parent job revolves around positive support, a shoulder of comfort when necessary, and help with maintaining discipline and commitment when required.
If you wish to talk to some one about our club, please call John Kimmel, Executive Director, at 210 670 8318 or our Director of Coaches, Coach Hawk at 210 695 4767.
